Hi there Anna, welcome back again! For whom have not go through about you ahead of, let’s commence from the fundamental principles. Where have you grown up, and how have you understood you required to become an artist?

My name is Anna Pajak, and I grew up in Stockholm, Sweden! I often realized it. I woke up like a painter 😉

Can you briefly say a thing about your technique and notify us what drives you to make artwork?

I am a painter and printmaker. In my exercise, I use both equally fluid acrylics and oil paint. The generate normally feels a lot more like a need. My beginning point is generally a bodily feeling translated into the visible. I check out geometrical areas and architectural factors these types of as surfaces, patterns, and depths. I merge color, symbols, and views into visionary imagery where by the summary fulfills the figurative.

Drawing from modernist female painters, spiritualism, and goals, I try to deconstruct and recombine symbols, visuals, designs, and architectural fragments in methods that obstacle common contexts and interpretations. I like my canvases large-scale, so the paintings can bring a feeling of a different dimension to everyday living – a actuality on the border to aspiration and fiction.

What principal function has improved in your is effective or follow through the several years?

It evolves continually. My paintings are a conversation between women of all ages and me from distinct moments. These females are observed everywhere you go, in obvious spots, and at times hardly visible.

I paint as a way to consider about this, inviting non-incorporated voices into the patriarchal illustration of languages, words and phrases, and themes.

Which artist generally evokes your work? And is there anything else, exterior visible arts, that retains you enthusiastic?

” The Chuckle of the Medusa” was the title of my past solo show at Wetterling Gallery in Stockholm. The tile arrives from Hélène Cixous, a French feminist writer. In advance of I began functioning on this clearly show, I arrived throughout her essay. I sensed a major desire in how I could transfer her principle of female writing to my portray follow.

Her crafting is cyclical and non-linear, like the woman body. Just like portray, I considered. What distinguishes female creating, in accordance to Cixous, is that it provides expression to the system. Also, the language captures what the physique has knowledgeable, just like painting, I believed.

A narrative emerges parallel with the paintings in my observe the tales can be abstract and level to a condition of mind. In the image, I get to know the characters/symbols, and in me, with them, a new story is woven.

So for this clearly show, I invited Medusa’s companionship to the studio, and alongside one another we have enable her shields (my paintings) develop. The snakes standing from her hair are her distinctive desires for the diversity of the woman getting. There are no dichotomies in that present, as anything exists simultaneously. I saw the exhibition as her return. Violent and delicate at the similar time.
