Art has the power to transform communities, enhance our travels and give us insight into a city’s personality. We wanted to find the best of the country’s art scene: the best immersive experiences, sculpture parks, arts districts, small town art scenes and cities for street art. So, we asked you, our readers, to vote for your favorites and the results are in.

Best Arts District: Northeast Minneapolis Arts District in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Centered around the Northrup King Building, the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District is home to 18 artist studio buildings where some 1,200 artists have studio space. The district’s signature event, Art-A-Whirl, brings together more than 850 participating artists each year.

Best City for Street Art: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think about street art, but this city has become a veritable outdoor gallery. Start your explorations in the Plaza District before continuing on to the Western Avenue corridor and Bricktown.

Best Immersive Art Experience: Wonderspaces in Scottsdale, Arizona

This year-round art show highlights immersive artwork from around the globe. At any given time, visitors can explore more than a dozen installations that explore color, light, sound and abstract narratives. You can also find Wonderspaces in Austin, Philadelphia and San Diego.

Best Sculpture Park: Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden in New Orleans, Louisiana

The sculpture garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) includes more than 80 works displayed on 11 acres of City Park. Visitors can enjoy these works of art amid a landscape of mature pines, magnolias, live oaks and two lagoons.

Best Small Town Art Scene: Tubac, Arizona

Tubac was founded in 1726 as Arizona’s first European settlement. Today, this sleepy town and artists’ colony just outside of Tucson is a popular destination for shoppers, who come for the 80-some shops and galleries specializing in colorful arts and crafts. The Tubac Golf Resort was featured in the Kevin Costner film “Tin Cup.”

Best Art Museum: Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia

The Booth Western Art Museum maintains the world’s largest permanent exhibition space for Western art, and the building itself was designed to resemble a pueblo. The collection of paintings, sculptures, artifacts and photography focuses on themes of the Civil War and American West, with works by American legends such as Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and Andy Warhol.
