You can see the Bethesda Fine Arts Competition 2022 artists in this article.

You know what is actually coming subsequent – my awards for top rated artists in the clearly show.  As a brilliant juror, I can use my experienced eye from the thumbnails and web page visits to award the Campello awards.

For the painters I liked  Zhiyi Li (from Enfield, CT) in Booth #66, and Thomas Williams (from Chicago, IL) in Booth #78.

All a few printmakers in the demonstrate are excellent — I have created a lot about Joseph Craig English from Washington Grove, MD (Booth #84) – in this present John Pernell and Michael Nemnich are also fairly superior.

For Mixed Media, my top rated select was Sandra Sedmak Engel, whose sensual work is a satisfaction the two to the eye and the eros that outside displays commonly try to eliminate.

There are a good deal of proficient photographers in the exhibit. See them all in this article. James Richmond from Titusville, Florida (Booth #76) went to Cuba and has the required shots of outdated 1950s cars in Havana, as I fully grasp that the Cuban dictatorship will not make it possible for visitors (and photographers particularly) to depart from the jailed island unless of course evidence is introduced at the airport that images of the classic vehicles have been taken.

Pet peeve aside, Richmond has an remarkable eye for capturing the grace that is human type, all the way from Portuguese card players in Outdated Europe to gorgeous indigenous girls in Panama, to Cuban farmers in the brutalized Castro Brothers’ Workers Paradise.

It is a wonderful photograph, capturing the essence of the Cuban guajiro, his historical Basque bloodlines however really cleaning working as a result of his veins as evidenced by the telltale ear lobe, a vast smile for the American vacationer on his thin lips, and a hand-rolled Habano in his mouth, the envy of every single smoker millionaire all around the world.

In the category of sculpture, Tanya Tyree caught my consideration as her sculptures struggle between proficient efficiency and a little bit of whimsy. What is clear is a straight and distinctive vision staying delivered by the (I suspect) pretty sturdy and competent hands of this artist.

And the Campello pick for Greatest in Show?

It goes to painter Cassie Taggart from Rehoboth, DE in Booth #51.

While any one can instantly see that Taggart’s perform discover surrealism, what she has brilliantly finished is to supply a new 21st century version of surrealism, where her expert painting abilities marry it with fantasy, and the fantastical (which is distinctive) as nicely as a healthier dose of narrative storytelling.

It is “otherworldly” artwork deeply anchored in facts which life hidden in our ancestral brain.  This is operate which once you acquire it and hang it in your home, will dominate almost everything else which you have hung on all those partitions.

Go outside the house and see some artwork this weekend, talks to artists and artisans, consume some lousy-for-you meals and pay attention to some outdoor songs.
