‘Inspired by La Crosse’ art contest winners get year’s display at City Hall

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Artwork of the 3 winners of the “Inspired by La Crosse” juried art opposition will be displayed at City Corridor for a 12 months.

The Pump Property Regional Arts Middle in La Crosse sponsors the annual competitiveness with assistance from the city’s Arts Board. The Pump House highlighted the winners, who had been declared for the duration of Artspire on June 11, in its July e-newsletter.

The victors, who received $200 apiece and a ribbon, are:

  • Tom Balko of Knotty Willow in La Crosse, whose wooden sculpture is titled “Currents.”
  • Susan Fox of La Crosse, whose rendition of a crane is titled “Hiding in Simple Sight.”
  • Jason Stuempges of Jason Ray Pictures, a landscape photographer in Sparta, Wis., whose successful entry is an panoramic photograph of the metropolis titled, with ideal simplicity, “La Crosse.”

“Inspired by La Crosse” is coordinated in conjunction with Artspire La Crosse, the largest annual arts celebration in downtown La Crosse. It is intended to cultivate recognition of and appreciation for the arts.

Also through the arts celebration, 4 Artspire Artist Awards were offered in a levels of competition that Altra Federal Credit score Union sponsored. A panel of jurors picked the winners, centered on originality, quality and presentation in their booths.

They are:

  • Initially, Johnathan Lawson, “Roadside Paintings,” gained $1,000.
  • 2nd, Tyler Voorhees of Tyler Voorhees Artwork, $500.
  • Merit Award, Jenna Hestekin, The Cozy Red, $100.
  • Merit Award, Will Brzezinski, Positive Spin Ceramics, $100.
