Understanding the work of Robert MacPherson

Robert MacPherson ‘Mayfair: (Swamp rats) Ninety-seven indicators for C.P., J.P., B.W., G.W. & R.W.’ 1994-95

MacPherson’s Mayfair: (Swamp rats) Ninety-seven signals for C.P., J.P., B.W., G.W. & R.W. consists of 75 masonite panels painted in the manner of property-created roadside commercials. The artist explores fundamental facets of the which means and generating of artwork, his strategy to making artwork virtually constantly requires the use of multiples, a sequence of related or identical objects, in this occasion repeating a single common-sized device with various inscriptions and versions of background tone, arranged as a grid.

As a conceptual artist, MacPherson has devoted his job to questioning what it is, effectively, that makes a perform of art.
